The 1st Division patch was worn from 31 October 1918 to Present.

The First Division was organized In June 1917 in New York, New York. The red arabic numeral one identifies the divisions designation. During World War I it was the first to land in France, the first to the front, first to fire at the enemy, first to attack, first to make a raid, first to suffer casualities, and the first to inflict casualities.They were also the first to be cited in the general orders.

Campaigns: World War I, European Theater of Operations, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Gulf War-Desert Storm-Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kuwai Liberation Medal from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal from Kuwait, Kosovo Campaign, Afghanistan Campaign, Iraq Campaign.

Decorations: French Croix de Guerre with Palm World War II, Fernch Croix de Guerre World War II Fourragare, Belgian Fouragere World War II. Army Meritorious Unit Commendation for Vietnam 1968, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm 1965-1968, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal First Class 1965-1970.
